ACOVA HIGHLIGHTS
February Administrator Highlight
Shelly Finch-CTE Director at St. Johns High School CTE
For the month of February ACOVA is happy to highlight Shelly Finch-CTE Director at St. Johns High School.
Nominated by: Kyle Patterson, SJUSD Superintendent
Shelly is one of the most efficient CTE directors a superintendent could ever hope for. Administrators at the high school and the school district never have to worry about our CTE programs because Shelly just takes care of them. The NAVIT Superintendent, Matt Weber, has often told me that Shelly is typically the first (or one of the first) directors to have her paperwork in or to accomplish any task that Matt asks her to do.
Shelly has played a crucial role in bringing in new CTE programs and trying new things out. Over the past few years, we have brought in a new construction program, a new FFA/Ag program, and a new arts program. All of these were made possible because of Shelly. It would have been really easy for Shelly to scoff at the idea of having to take on more responsibility by accepting these new programs, but she did just the opposite. She has pursued more and more programs all in an effort to help students have as many great experiences as possible.
I think Shelly is about as good as it gets with running an efficient CTE program and being one who is constantly looking for what other programs we can adopt or how we can adapt our current programs to help students.
Congratulations to Shelly Finch for being recognized as the ACOVA February Administrator Highlight!
